Here are the facts:
Michelle has our back. History has shown that she listens and supports policies that will most help Torrington families. Michelle has:
· Eliminated taxes on Social Security Income for couples making less than $100,000
· Capped the Car Tax
· Brought over a quarter billion dollars back to town.
· Defended and maintained vital services.
· Supported Paid Family Medical Leave, so people don’t have to choose between caring for a loved one and losing their job.
· Stood up to Eversource so that they must put people and service above profits and executive pay.
· Voted to expand health care access and cap insulin prices.
· Helped bring new jobs and businesses to Torrington.
· Voted to eliminate the business entity tax
· And Much, Much More
Michelle has helped countless individuals and businesses. She has proven that she has the experience to cut through red tape and get help to Torrington residents as we fight the pandemic together. She is the experienced leader we need right now to support our families and make Torrington a better place to live.
In addition, Michelle is a third-generation small business owner. She knows how to make payroll and support her employees. Michelle voted to eliminate the burdensome business entity tax, a long-term goal of Connecticut’s business community. Michelle has supported workforce development programs to help people build job skills, helped new businesses come to Torrington and helped ones that are already here cut through red tape to get help during the pandemic.
Michelle supported policies that raised our state savings account to all-time high and opposed efforts to irresponsibly empty it. This made our state well prepared to fight the economic costs of the pandemic and allowed us to close the pandemic created budget gap without raising taxes. In addition, the state has been able to pay down part of the large pension debt that has accumulated over fifty years under the leadership of both parties. Recently a top bond rating agency has recognized these achievements and given Connecticut an A+ rating.
